On August 8th, a major milestone occurred for Cayden (one of my 6-year-old nephews). For quite some time now he has asked me when he was going to lose a tooth. Well...whattdaya know, he had a really loose tooth, and Aunt Anne is the tooth pulling lady in the family ( at least for Lizzie so far; Amanda went through it too when she was younger). So...my sister, Martha, said, "Cayden, did you tell Aunt Anne you have a loose tooth?" He said no, but the cat was out of the bag, and it was tooth pulling time...and it went a little something like this....
Cayden: Aunt Anne, is it going to hurt?
Aunt Anne: Yes Cayden, it will hurt a little, but shouldn't be too bad. (disclaimer - his tooth was hanging on by a thread).
Cayden: *tears fully streaming down his face - Aunt Anne, is it going to bleed? Is it going to bleed?
Aunt Anne: Probably some, but won't be a lot.
Cayden: I don't want you to pull the tooth.
Aunt Anne: Cayden, let me just wiggle it.
Cayden: *still with tears flowing freely (and I haven't even touched the tooth yet)....Aunt Anne, is it going to bleed?
Aunt Anne: Cayden, let me just wiggle it.
***So, I wiggle the tooth, it is already out before Cayden starts crying hysterically.
Aunt Anne: Um, Cayden, the tooth is out.
Cayden: *the tear faucet shuts off immediately. It is?
Aunt Anne: Yep, you have lost your first tooth.
Cayden is all *toothless* smiles now!!
The little baby tooth. Oh my goodness, Cayden is growing up

Cayden's first smile after his tooth was pulled out.

Cayden's first toothless grin!!

Cayden...Aunt Anne, will the tooth fairy please bring me $1.00 and a $0.25? I want to give Lizzie a $0.25....
Precious memories!
