Amanda is homeschooled, and has been since she was 4 years old. I can remember back to when we started homschooling her, and we chose to start her at age 4 because she had a cousin starting kindergarten at that time and Amanda did not like the fact that her cousin was starting school, and she was not (go figure). So, we jumped into homeschooling full speed. I had to work full-time (thankfully a job at home) to support the family as I was a single mom at the time. Hence, this is where my dad came into the picture. He said he would help me homeschool Amanda, as long as I did what was necessary at home to school her. And thus, the "Grandpa's School for Gifted Girls" was established circa 2001. Amanda had asked my dad what the name of her school was, and that is how the name was created.
Over the years, there have been some really, really rough spots with homeschooling to where I wanted to give up (my dad too), but we have stuck it out, and now Amanda will be moving into the 8th grade level of work! WOW!.
School with her grandpa is the BIG highlight of her week (she goes on Fridays to his house for tests, etc). She loves taking tests, and spending time with her grandpa. While school can get pretty intense at Grandpa's house, Amanda seems to think that at her "satellite campus" aka home, this is what school is like ----

Amanda and Al, resting after a hard day of school...oh wait, the school day had yet to begun!
