Valentine's Dance 2011 - - 50s Sock Hop Theme

This past Saturday (February 12, 2011), Amanda went to her school's Valentine's Dance. She was so excited to be going and had a fun time there.

She was asked by her friend, Tyler Clark, and since it was a 50s theme, Amanda chose to have dinner at the 5&Diner. Well, you know what happens when the couple going to the dance is only 13 and 14 years old? Yep, mom gets to drive them. And what does that mean, too? Mom and Larry and in-laws ALL got to join them at dinner!! It was fun to have dinner altogether (Tyler and Amanda had their own table though...after Amanda begged for several days NOT to make them sit at the table with me). So, I obliged, let them sit at their own table....one table next to us (got to still keep my eye on my girl, right?).

After dinner (and well, during dinner for that matter) what did this mom do? Whipped out the trusty ol camera. Yep...I most certainly did. The Girl - in no way was camera shy; The Boy - well, let's just say he finally warmed up to the fact that he was not going to get out of pictures. One of the sweetest moments for the night (at least for me) was when Tyler had to put the corsage on Amanda. You could definitely see the nerves surfacing, but he did well, if I do say so myself! (Although....that was T H E fastest I have E V E R seen someone put a corsage on).

Pictures and more pictures, and then they were off to the dance.

When Amanda came home, she talked, talked, and talked some more. And the one thing she said before heading to bed. "At the end of the dance, when Tyler's mom got there to pick us up, she hurried out of the car and guess what she did?, she took a P I C T U R E !"

....it's a mom thing, I tell you; good night.

Dear Sweet Amanda~

Creating your video montage and looking at the pictures I took of that night, I truly sit here in awe of the of the young lady you are becoming. I am so blessed to be your mom. You are a beautiful girl, and I love you.
Love,
Mom
